TV Mounting, Shelves & Blinds

Anything that has to hang on a wall and stay there — TVs with the cables buried, floating shelves, heavy mirrors, blinds and curtain rods.

Anchored to something real

Everything on this page is the same problem in different sizes: how do you attach weight to a wall so it stays there for years, and so nothing shows.

The failure is always the same too. Someone trusts a single stud-finder pass, lands half on the stud, and the fixing holds until the day it does not. We locate framing and confirm it a second way before anything is drilled, then set the fixing into solid material.

TV mounting

Fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets on drywall, brick, stone, tile and over fireplaces. The bracket goes into framing or solid masonry, the TV comes out level, and the cables run inside the wall so nothing hangs down over your paint.

Upgrading to a bigger screen usually means new anchor points in different places. We pull the old bracket, patch and texture the holes it leaves, and set the new one at the height you actually watch from — which is usually lower than where the last person put it.

Where the wall itself is the project — panelling, a fireplace surround, hidden wiring built into new framing — that is a feature wall rather than a mount.

Shelves, mirrors and wall decor

Floating shelves are deceptively unforgiving: the bracket is invisible, so any droop is obvious, and the load sits at the end of a long lever. They get fixed into framing and levelled across the whole run rather than one shelf at a time.

Heavy mirrors, framed art, gallery walls and picture rails all get the same treatment. For a gallery wall we lay the arrangement out on the floor first and mark the wall from that, so you are not making decisions while holding a frame at arm’s length.

Blinds, shades and curtain rods

Blinds show every millimetre of error, because there is a straight line of daylight behind them. Brackets go in level to the head rail rather than to the window frame — older frames are rarely square, and following a crooked frame is how you end up with a blind that closes tight at one end and gapes at the other.

Curtain rods get mounted high and wide where the room allows, into framing or with proper toggles when the studs do not land where the bracket needs to be.

Getting a price

Most of this can be quoted from a photo. Send a picture of the wall with the TV, shelf or window in it, tell us the screen size or the shelf length, and you get a number back without anyone driving out.

Frequently asked

Can you hide the cables in the wall?

On most interior walls, yes — an in-wall power kit and a low-voltage pass-through let the power and HDMI drop behind the drywall. On exterior or masonry walls we route through a paintable channel instead, which is the honest option rather than cutting into insulation or brick.

Is mounting above a fireplace a problem?

It depends on the heat coming off the firebox and what is behind the surface. We check both before drilling and will tell you if the spot is a bad idea for the TV rather than finding out later.

Do you bring the mount, the blinds, the shelves?

You can supply the hardware or we can pick something rated for the job. Either way it goes into framing or solid masonry — never into drywall anchors alone on anything with weight.

My blinds need cutting to fit. Can you do that?

Yes for most stock blinds. Measure twice matters here: tell us whether you want an inside or outside mount when you call, because it changes the width you order.

How to get a price

  1. 01

    Fill in the form

A sentence about the job and the address we would be coming to. Rough measurements help but are not essential — the address is the part we cannot work without.

  2. 02

    Get a number

Most jobs are priced from the form without anyone driving out. Bigger projects get a short visit first, and the estimate is free either way.

  3. 03

    Pick a time

The price is agreed before any work starts. We work 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, and take urgent jobs when we can.
