This website

The descriptions of services here are a guide to the kind of work we take on, not an offer to perform any particular job. What we can actually do for you depends on your property and what we find when we look at it.

Quotes and estimates

Estimates are free. A price given before we have seen the job is based on what you have described. If the job turns out to be materially different once we are on site — rot behind a board, a leak behind a wall, a fitting that is not what it looked like — we stop and tell you what changed before doing anything further. You are never billed for more than what was agreed without that conversation happening first.

Quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Material prices can move, and a quote older than that may need refreshing.

Scope of work — the important part

We are not a licensed general contractor, electrician or plumber. We do not perform work that requires a permit, including new electrical circuits, plumbing rough-in, structural alterations and roofing. We do not take on roof repair, pressure washing, appliance repair, cleaning, or moving and hauling.

If your job needs a licensed trade, we will tell you before starting. We will not take on work that we are not the right people to do.

Insurance

The business carries insurance. Proof is available on request before work begins — just ask.

Access and site conditions

Booked work assumes we can reach the area being worked on. Where furniture, storage or vehicles need moving to get to it, tell us when you book so the time is allowed for.

Materials supplied by you

You are welcome to buy your own fixtures, tile, paint, blinds or hardware and have us fit them. We cannot warrant the products themselves in that case, only our installation of them. If something you supplied is faulty or the wrong size, the labour to deal with that is chargeable.

Payment

Due on completion unless something else has been agreed in writing. Materials we purchase on your behalf are billed at cost on top of the labour.

Cancellations

Let us know as early as you reasonably can. Scheduling around a cancelled booking is far easier with a day's notice than with an hour's, and we will do the same for you if something on our side changes.

Our work

If something we installed or repaired fails because of how we did it, tell us and we will come back and put it right. That does not extend to normal wear, later damage, the failure of a product you supplied, or a problem that we flagged at the time and were asked to work around anyway.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of North Carolina.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the date at the top will change when they are. The terms that apply to your job are the ones in force when you booked it.
