Home Maintenance & Seasonal
The list on the fridge. Small repairs, seasonal upkeep and holiday decorating, bundled into one visit so it costs less than booking each job separately.
The list on the fridge
Most of what we get called about is not one job. It is a list that has been accumulating: the cabinet door that will not sit flush, the towel rail that came out of the wall, the smoke alarm chirping in a hallway with a fourteen-foot ceiling, the gap under the back door that lets the cold in.
None of those is worth a trade coming out on its own. Together they are one comfortable visit, and that is the whole point of this page. Booking them as one job costs less than booking three separate specialists, and it clears the minimum instead of running into it.
Seasonal upkeep
North Carolina is hard on houses in two directions. Summer brings humidity that swells doors and pushes air conditioning to its limit; winter brings freeze-thaw cycles that work on caulk joints, hose bibs and anything holding water.
Worth doing before summer: check and reseal exterior caulk, service door and window seals, look at deck fasteners while the wood is dry.
Worth doing before winter: weatherstripping and door sweeps, insulate exposed pipework in crawl spaces and garages, disconnect and drain hose bibs, and check that gutters are actually draining away from the foundation rather than into it.
Holiday and seasonal decorating
Lights, garlands, wreaths and displays put up properly and taken down again in January. The taking-down half is the part people forget to plan for, and it is the reason so many houses still have lights up in March.
Fixings go on clips rather than nails and staples, so nothing gets driven through your gutters or siding. Ladder-height work only. We do not go onto roofs.
What this does not cover
If the list turns out to include something structural, a roof, a permit-level electrical or plumbing job, or appliance repair, we will tell you which items we can take and which need someone else. You will get a straight answer on the whole list rather than a quiet silence on the parts we do not do.
Getting a price
Write the list out, photograph anything visual, and send it over. We come back item by item with what we can do, what it costs, and how much of it fits in one visit.
Frequently asked
I have about eight small things. Is that one job or eight?
One visit, and that is the cheapest way to do it. Most calls are a list rather than a single job, and bundling them beats booking three separate trades. Send the whole list when you get in touch, even the items you think are too small to mention.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes, one hundred dollars. That is why bundling matters: a single ten-minute fix costs the same as the minimum, but six of them in one visit is good value. See the [pricing page](/pricing/) for how it works.
Do you put up Christmas lights?
Yes, and we take them down again in January, which is the part most people would rather not do. Roof-line work is limited to what can be reached safely from a ladder. We do not do roof work, so anything needing roof access is a no from us.
Do you handle rental turnovers?
Yes. A move-out punch list is exactly the kind of work this page covers, and it is usually quicker and cheaper as one booked visit than as a string of individual call-outs.
How to get a price
- 01
Fill in the form
A sentence about the job and the address we would be coming to. Rough measurements help but are not essential — the address is the part we cannot work without.
- 02
Get a number
Most jobs are priced from the form without anyone driving out. Bigger projects get a short visit first, and the estimate is free either way.
- 03
Pick a time
The price is agreed before any work starts. We work 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, and take urgent jobs when we can.
